Electrical Gremlin
Yeah, I am having issues with my dash lights. Nuthin too serious but very annoying. When I turn my lights on everything works fine except the illumination of the dash... of course, check the fuses and the illumination fuse is blown. So I grab a 10a that I have in the car and plug it in only for it to blow as soon as I turn the lights on. I even tried up to a 20a fuse and it still just blows right out... Any suggestions on where my short may be located?? Anyway I am off to pick up my new car Thanks for any help

Obviously the short is between the switch and the rest of the circuit so get a wiring diagram, place a test light in place of the fuse (test light will now light when the switch is turned on because of the short to ground) and begin unplugging each connector between the switch and the lights. When the test light goes out you'll know where the short is.

Also, as it blows when you turn on the lights, then check the wiring diagram to see which loom connects your steering column switch to the fuse board. Your short has to be on that loom, or a loom it feeds into. Joe
