manu light

My " MANU " light has just started coming and staying on while the engnine is running and driving. Tried the lock button on the shift console to no avail.

Used to be only the " POWER " light coming on, now it's only the MANU light staying on.

Patient: 92 LSL, this is the problem child from Belleville, IL that had all kinds of tranny problems due to user, electrical mod's (alarm & raido), unmatched tires, and slip shod tranmission mechanics.

Like the drain plug had thread sealer, and a major bolt hadn't been tightened (during rebuild) and was laying upright in the bottom of the pan.

Searched but didn't find the appropriate thread (may have missed it).

On your shifter there's a button that says "manual". Try pressing it to see if it turns off

Don't see a manual button, only the " Shift Lock " button that doesn't do anything except lock the shift lever in park (it must be pushed to get out of Park).

Tried the IX Tranny Codes,..... the MANU light never went off regardless of the shift selector position.

I'll neve buy another SVX that has had a bunch of electrical modifications, especially after market alarm (then removed), no telling what wires are crossed, oir mis-connected.

In this case, the MANU just recently began to illuminate, however, the car seems to drive and shift okay, except when a signal gets crossed and it attempts to downshift at highway speeds.

Used to watch for the POWER light blinking and coming on, and backed off the accelerator to preclude and/or minimize the rough downshift (and clutch damage).

The manual button is on the shifter itself. Right under the button you press when changing gears.

Re: MANU & Shifter

Sorry guys, you're right, found it. Terrible to be half blind and scattered, guess that's why I ran up on the DPS Trooper doing 89 on I-10W (fiddling with a cell phone).

In the interim I went out and tried it on my other SVX and found the manual button on the shifter.

Now I can turn it off and not worry about it (didn't seem to lock it in any gear when driving). Will road test this weekend going to Houston to visit my Therapist (girl friend).

She wants to ride something exciting besides a cowboy.
