please help, Turning vibrations

When I turn the steering wheel it seems like the rear wheels and the front wheels are not intact with each other. I get a wierd vibration especially when I turn hard. COuld this mean I need a 4 wheel alignment because I did have a rear link put underneath in the back. It feels like something is rubbing when I turn. what could this be because I know nothing is rubbing.

If you are lucky the power steering fluid needs to be changed. Check the fluid to see if it is clean and red, or brown and dirty. The simple way to change it is to siphon it out with a turkey baster and replace it with Dextron3. Do this three or four times and (if this is the problem) it will go away.

However, it could be your AWD clutches binding. For that you need a real mechanic.

I'm willing to bet it's the AWD.

You can verify this by putting in the FWD fuse under the hood and try some tight turns.

More than likely the AWD solenoid is sticking. This is identifiable if the front wheels will spin before the rears catch up with a thud.

I agree, but it can't hurt to check out the easy to fix stuff first.

yeah that seems kinda like what it is

Like one time I had my son backout of the driveway and when the rear tires hit some gravel it spinned a little, kinda hard to explain. But if it's the 4 wheel drive should I get rid of the car before it goes out or is this something I should be able to deal with?

Try a Search using "binding steering" and you should get about 29 threads of which about half will apply to this problem. The LSD additive mentioned did a lot to eliminate most of the same problem in mine. Try the search and you'll see it's not an uncommon problem with the AWD models.

thanx

I'll try the search but I don't think it has anything to do with fluids because the shorter I turn the more vibration I get and I can sorta feel something underneath my seat like moving or something. But I'll try the search anyways. thanx.
