test

Hi Joe , Hi Harvey , Hi guys

Here is the results of test-drive:

lever position in 1 - O.K.

lever position in 2 - it shifts from 1 - 2 at just under 2000 RPM.
at 6000 RPM the speed of the car is 70 MPH.

lever position in 3 - it shifts from 1 - 2 at just under 2000 RPM
right after 2000 RPM it's slipping and the next gear won't engage. at 6000 RPM the speed is 50 MPH.

lever position in D - it shifts from 1 - 2 at just under 2000 RPM
right after 2000 RPM it's slipping until 4500 RPM , then it shifts to 3rd , and at 6000 RPM the speed is about 90 MPH.

Any idea ?

Alec

Hi Alex, It does look like the band is slipping. If it is OK in 3rd, then the high clutch is OK, so it must be the band.
It can be adjusted from outside the box, about 1 hour job.

Depending how long it has been slipping. and how much the oil smells burnt, it may save it

Are you sure that it is an US model? To be sure, as the box is different between the two, check the fuse box under the hood. The bottom right hand cornor, 2nd from the bottom "10 Amp FWD" for the US model, or " 10 Amp Diff Lock" for the Euro.

Harvey.

Hi Harvey
Tnanks for reply!
Yesterday I took my SVX to the service garage.(see what they say) They'll call me tomorrow.I bought this car a week ago , and it's been imported from Luxembourg,so it is difficult to say when this problem occured. I checked ATF ,it looks like it been changed yesterday. The dealer who sold it to me won't go for trouble of changing ATF. So I assume that the previous owner sold it as it happened. I'll call service garage tomorrow morning and ask them to try to adjust brake band , and do test-drive (hopefully it will work)if it's not brake band - it will be difficult to get spare parts for this transmission. They suggesting to swap for manual, but they never did it before on SVX, so they not shore "how to".
What is your word of wisdom ?

Thank you mate !

Alec

Take it in for adjustment.

Hi Alex, Do the brake band adjustment. If the oil looks ok, then it should get the band working again. Did you check the fuse, to tell the type of trans in the car.?

Harvey.
