Why computers are good

So I sent my newly acquired SVX in to get the timing done since there had been no record of it being done before. Just got a call back from the dealer and he said everything looks great behind the timing belt covers which is good. I always like to get in good with the service manager, and on his own he did some reasearch on the car's history. Apparently before Bwana owned it, the 1st owner got a new engine under entended warranty around 78k miles. So my engine has 34k miles on it and the tranny has 22k on it. From what we gathered, when the engine swap was done, they used the original engine belts, and possibly plugs. I did the spark plug change Monday, and the rear two plugs were in pretty bad shape. They were NGK R, which I believe is OEM, correct me if I am wrong. The engine has a slight tick now, and the service manager confirmed that the #6 plug was causing the sound. I'm sure she'll be fine over time.

So now that I have new belts, I'm going to find a good tranny shop to do a power flush to add in new Hurst Hot Shift fluid and do the Permacool filter install.

Smallcar shift kit is going in today when I get home. So there's my update. I finally get to drive the SVX full-time. Wo0t!

Soooo upon reading the back of the Hurst bottle ALL the way through, the last line says after mentioning for use in passenger cars "...and is not recommended for electronically-controlled transmissions." So, I'm returning all those bottles and just going with Mobil 1 synthetic. It's only $1 more per bottle anyway and not discontinued like the Hot Shift.

Good deal on the 34k motor. Have fun driving the car more.
The more you drive it the more you'll like it.

You're right. For months after I got my car I had a bad case of this.

The intermittent rev from 2nd to 3rd doesn't help either

Well I got the transmission flush done and Permacool filter install done all for $50 plus cost of fluid. I wired up my temp gauge last night and after finding every steep hill in the city (we have ones that are a 45 degree grade) the temps wouldn't go above 200. This is with the stock cooler. Normal driving temp on the highway is between 180-190. The city temp does drop from 200 at idle so flow seems good.
