It seems you're all over you SVXs already, or something.

Is there nothing to post???

My SVX is still looking great (and in one piece) - and that's all that matters!

Angry Sad - cold hard light

The cold hard light of day is on my SVXs at the moment, my red car was in getting the noise/rumbling sound sorted when in reverse, it now turns out to be transmission related ...the latest

Subaru rang me y'day with a quote just on parts for the broken/need replacing stuff in the transmission..that "..we can see at this stage....we thought we should let you know ...$3700 !!!, and thats not all it needs yet...I hit the roof !!

I said so how much then to replace the whole gearbox..."I'll just look it up ...hmmm it says that here that that costs $10,000 .." stunned silence... I replied they cost around $20K to buy for the whole car !!! ..you're kidding...." hmm I'll take a look at it and I'll get back to you"... today is not a good day !!!

Damn, that sux!

If done by Subaru, they will most likely send it down to Melbourne to a place called A&B Automotive (or similar - cannot remember exactly) - they did all the replacement/reconditioning of the 4EATS when the SVX was sold new - may be worth contacting them and seeing how much to do it and cut out Subaru altogether

$10,000 - cue laughing - yeah, right

Odds are they are trying a bit on - and they charge like wounded bulls - did they tell you what else needed to be done??

Hope it work outs

James

I'm Back

Yeah, it's been a bit quiet of late, except for my car, which decided to make all sorts of noises while one of the cam belt idler pulleys disintegrated!
I've been up in the Technical Q & A forums trying to sort it out.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...threadid=19425
But, (holding hand to head) touch wood, all is now well with SVX-092.
Hey, sorry to hear about your Tranny
Just talk to various AT people about an overhaul, but be careful about mentioning it's from a subaru, tell 'em it's the same box as the mazda MPV.
Good Luck!
Arthur.

Wow - you learn something new every day!

Was the Subaru / Aisin-Warner 4EAT used in any other non-Subaru vehicles?

Jason.

I can't recall exactly who, what or where but I had read that Subaru didn't have a box strong enough for the H6 so they brought it in. (Seems they still didn't get a strong enough one)

I would say that may be your course of action. Maybe pick up a tranny from either a new subaru or something (legacy???). If you go to the Mod Mania forum, there will be threads about tranny swaps and the like.

Disintegrated doesn't sound too good. I'll have to check out the thread on Q&A...

It's good to see people are still looking at the forum from time to time, even when it's quiet...

Paulie
