floppy hood
So in Feb. my SVX was hit by a clown that ran a stop sign. He hit the driver side front qtr and the the bumper. The hood was a little tweaked and after months of back and forth with the body shop the car is back to as close to as nice as it was before. The white pearl is not the same color as it was before (it's a brighter white) but it is the only color they managed to do that ended up with the car all the same color and it does look pretty good. Here is the only real problem I have left. The hood really shakes. It seems tight and properly adjusted when you pull or push on it. The only thing that seems a little weird is when it's open it doesn't seem very rigid. I think they twisted it when the repaired it. I'm wondering if it's possible that the bracing underneath is now loose or broken. Anyone seen this before?

Ok Michele try this. With the hood open check that the bolts to the hindges are tight. The body shop might have only tightened one bolt at the hindge. Also check the bolts from the hindge to the body.
I ran a body shop and it is pretty standard to retwist a hood slightly. If you do it to much the subfram, which is glued on, can seperate from the hood skin, the part you see on the outside. To find out remove the hood pad and look for any places that might be seperated. If so leave the hood pad off and goto the body shop and ask them to reglue it. It is a special bonding material that take about 3 to 6 hours to set up and cure. The other option is to get some urathain and fix it yourself. It would be better that you went to the body shop. Good luck with it. I hope that it is just a loose bolt. Quicker fix and you do not have to deal with the body shop again. Steve
