Unhappy Brake Noise!

I guess I'm kinda new to this group. Sey Yeh to all you Marylander's!!!!

Anyway, made my first first purchase , '92 SLS W/55k. Test drove it, and was hooked ever since.

I have noticed that when performing high speed hard braking, the front brakes make a grinding noise, but do not make this noise while tapping the brakes or braking normally at normal speeds. There is no shaking to speak of, although there is a slight "shimmy." when braking hard at high speeds (70 +).

I can drive say, 55-60, then apply brakes, I don't hear the noise, so what do you think this could be??

Have you noticed any marks on your rotors?? Like the pads are cutting into them or something... Are your pads getting worn out??? Dosen't sound like something major, but then again I'm not a brake guy.. I'm an engine guy...

How old are the rotors & pads?

Visually inspect them for anything out of the ordinary.

Bought it at a dealer about 6 months ago.
When I test drove the car, there were no signs of this, but then again, I wasn't driving 80 m/hr and making hard stops

Braking system is under spec'd, so get them looked at again. You may find one pad is getting very close to end of life, can be caused by a sticky slidder, or some sand you picked up, or other.
But it is a good time for a free inspection from you're regular mechanic.
