Road noise

Is it just me or does there seem to be a lot of road noise while driving your SVX? Is it because of the AWD or is there something that I should be looking to repair in my car? The tires are very loud compared to any other car I've ever been in and I was trying to see if it was just mine or are all SVX's like that? Thanks

Lots of sources here

Could be tires (most likely) could be wheel bearings, bad window seals, bad door seals, suspension problems (worn out struts, ball joints letting wheels wobble)...

The SVX was created as a quiet car with an exceptional amount of effort to dampen noise engineered in.

Depending on the tire they can be very noisy. There always seems to be alot of talk of what is the quietist tires for the SVX, I think it's becouse we are all so parinoid about our wheel bearings.

Depending on how the tread on your tires look, it might be your bearings.

I just put on some Bridgestone Blizzak snow tires. They are very loud. I think noise has a lot to do with tires. But what the others said could also be true.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

The SVX is such a quiet car it makes things like tire noise much more obvious. Most cars mask much of the tire noise. Many tires also seem to get noiser as they 'age'.

You might also be hearing a wheel bearing going. It starts out as a dull thrumming that you can't quite locate and grows gradually louder with time. Unfortunately, it is one (of the few) typical problems our SVX's experience.

Hope it is the tires

Tires are cheaper if the bearings are done by a shop.

I just had right front and left rear done. (Wierd)

I thought my bearings were going bad. Changed to the Yokohama Avid V4's and the sounds went away.
