I think the OT forum is a great idea, especially because when people post threads that are of this nature, they include "OT" in their name of the thread anyways.

I don't know how I feel about the New Users forum, though...I guess I'm kind of leaning towards nah...

New Fora

Nice idea, needs some thought about definition.

The Babble forum is meant to be about anything at all, and the Technical forum is meant to cater for those who only are interested in mechanical problems and hard information. The Mods forum caters for those who want to upgrade or even "rice" their cars.

The Babble forum gets the biggest amount of interaction, helped along by some of those post-begetting threads put in for the sake of pumping up post counts. If we tolerate them, we oughta tolerate a little gangsta fiction

J/K, I am not too happy about racist slurs, this is not the site for innovative fiction either, good or bad.

I don't like the idea of a Newcomer's forum, they will just be ignored. Definitely expand the FAQ and How-To section, ensure all newbies can find it for recurring problems.

The SVX Babble forum should be kept, and defined as anything to do with the SVX or anything Subaru. If we have an Off Topic forum, then I think it should be made clear that in general the posts should be related to motoring issues, as this is a motoring site. Otherwise, we are open market for anyone with a penchant for spouting drivel dressed as art.

I agree with you Joe, but what you propose may be a bit too strict for what we currently enjoy here. As many have said in these discussions, a lot of us come here for the social interaction. The off topic posts generally are where we share more about our lives, look for support, share our accomplishments, etc. Many have called this their family, and families like to share and keep each other informed. By your definition, Beav would not be allowed to post about his new house, Randy would not be allowed to post about his mother dying, and I would not be able to say I was losing my job. Yeah, if we allow these things we may have to allow a little unwanted baggage in too, but most everyone gets the hint of how things work around here and what is welcome or not.

I still think General SVX Babble (yes, it does say SVX in the title) could stay as the general place we talk non-tech, non-mods, mostly about sightings, purchases, racing, etc. And Off Topic forum where we talk about everything not SVX related, into Subaru and motoring.
