Difference?
What is the difference in a Ebony Pearl and Black Mica? Is it a definited appearance diff or only the year?

Ooh oh I think I know. The ebony pearl is black with a pearl in it and can appear blue in spots when in the sun, and the black mica has a very cool red flake in the paint that when in direct sun light has a cool red sparkle to it.

Agree
I definitely agree on the description of the Black Mica. I have one and it does appear to have a reddish or burgundy color when hit by the right light. The only complaint I have against it is that when you take a picture of it with a flash--it appears dirty--no matter how clean. Guess the flash reflection causes that appearance. I just did not know the true definitions or the charateristics of the Black Pearl.

black mica vs ebony pearl
see? this is why i come here, to learn. every reference piece i have on my '94 calls the paint ebony pearl, but what it really looks like is subafreak's description, with the red flake in the paint...

Yep.
At the UK 10th anniversary meet in Devon last year, Angie Hill had a late model black car, and she and Phil insisted it was red. If you care to look in my locker, it is in the photos, and listed as red to keep her happy. It does, of course, look black in all the photos. Black cars are notoriously difficult to photograph, but look really when clean and polished. If you want a good shot of your car, try and find somewhere that has a lot of overhead spots, and pretty bright overall light level. Shoot without flash [use an SLR] or only use fill-in level. Check out the clever way this v. dark green Toyota Windom has been photographed: Joe
