Oil Leak
I am getting ready to have my Timing belt replaced. Any suggestions on other things I need to have done while the front covers are off (ie. seals, etc...)?
Also....Has anyone replaced their valve cover gaskets? If so what components are needed or should I say be replaced at that time..I have a oil leak... Thanks, |

You'll find opinions ranging from, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, to replace everything while you're in there. I think it depends upon your car's mileage. For example, if the miles are low and the seals aren't seeping, I doubt I'd bother with them. But if it's approaching 200,000 miles on the original water pump, now's the time for another.
As to the valvetrain covers, don't know that there's anything to change except the gaskets and perhaps the rubber O-rings on the bolts. Again, you'll discover a wealth of info once you poke-around here for awhile. dcb Last edited by dcarrb; 07-27-2004 at 11:23 AM. |

There are 4 spark plug gaskets in there also (2 of the gaskets cover two plugs each). Dave |
