It's funny... according to some members on here- I'm a complete prick, and I'm the reason that the SVX has a small aftermarket. It' s nice to see someone who thinks otherwise once in a while.

Rob,

I take you for the good and the bad. You have a lot of knowledge to share, but sometimes say it more bluntly than some people would like. I've been hanging around drag racers and car fanatics for years, and you're actually more considerate of other people's feelings than 90% of the people I run into. I will always welcome your posts and comments!

Back to the topic, Matthewmongan, do you still plan to build a hood scoop (ram air intake) on an SVX? The more effective ones (WS-6, Viper, and 550 Maranello) seem to be placed towards the front of the hood and raised about 1", while the less effective ones (Camaro SS) are around the middle of the hood - food for thought!

I'm purchasing a damaged CF hood.... and I was planning on having no scoop at all...but..hrm.. I suppose I could put on any scoop I wanted to....

just not sure what would look good on the SVX.

I've always been a fan of 'shaker' hoods myself.

Funny you should say that... The new Mustang Mach1 has the same engine DOHC V8 as the '99-'02 Mustang Cobra (according to Mustangs and Fast Fords). The Mach1 is actually rated at 305hp, instead of 320 in the Cobra. However, M&FF and Car & Driver have both gotten faster 1/4 mile times in the Mach1 - the only difference between the two cars? The Mach1 has a functional 2" 'shaker' scoop on the center of the hood.

just my $.02

There are many different styles of intakes. I do know that a lot of people that tune camaro ss/ws6 switch to a moroso intake that points to the ground near the front of the engine compartment and don't use the hood scoop. Due to the duct work in the scoop the amount of cfms are drastically reduced to the filter. I am not an engineer, but the moroso setup seems to resemble the svxs by means of air pockets creating pressure and such.
