Question about manufacturing dates for cars
In general, what are the range of dates for a particular model year? For example, 2007 Imprezas were probably built between XX/2006 and YY/2007.

For the US market, it is almost always July-June for production dates. The exception is release or redesign of a new model will come out earlier.
This is why the Euro cars get confusing. In Europe it runs calendar year for the most part but then things get screwy when they come to the US. A great example of this is my A4. It is a "99.5" model. Exterior wise it is identical or close enough to a 2000-2001 (2001.5 started the next complete chassis redesign) However, there are many interior parts (radio, climate control and center console) that are unique to my "half year". A 99 model is different, and so is a 2000. Hence, finding parts for certain models can become tricky.

I think over here, cars that are produced "later" in the year are sold as next year's model. Typically from october onwards.

If I am not mistaken, I believe ensteele has been working on recording this. I know my 1992 Vin # indicates it was manufactured in November 1991.

It is COMPLETELY dependent on the year, model, and manufacturer and varies greatly. Subaru is known for introducing cars VERY early. I worked for a Subaru dealer when the first WRXs came out, and they started arriving at the dealer in April of 2001 as 2002 model year cars.
The very first SVXs for retail sale were built in March of 1991 for the 1992 model year. The SVX pace car has a manufacture date in 1990, but has the vin of a 1992 SVX.

The VINs for the 92s are 3/91 to 5/92
93s are 1/93 to 3/93 (25th anniversary models) 94s are 0/93 to 5/94 95s are 6/94 to 3/95 96s are 10/95 to 3/96 97s are 7/96 to 11/96
