I dug up an old E-mail from Center Subaru 2003 where the parts manager said:

Errm (cough) I'm the one who bought these...
 Yes my first bid was $77 but somone else had an auto-bid so that help to push the price up as well.... I can order them through Subaru but last price I was quoted was $750NZD + 6-8 week delivery ex Japan for a set so ~$380 NZD for these is a bargain. Dave has been great to deal with; can't wait to recieve them.

Hey Ewie, now we have matching floor mats - the only issue that you will find is that you need to take the drivers mat into a carpet specialist to "curve" out an area for the pull-up handles for fuel/boot. only cost me NZ$15 for this nice feature - it will be a mirror from the other side of same mat.

Wow I was just about to ask the same question . Back in 1994 I bought new mats for my 92 Form Center Subaru and they where $140.00 then. ( in todays $ that would be about $250.00)

The challenge we have "down-under" and particularly in New Zealand is that there were so few SVX's sold new here. As a consequence parts are harder to get and more expensive as a result. As an example, before replacing the exhaust on my car with an after-market one, I priced a new system from Subaru NZ; $7800.00 NZD.. not kidding.
Tail light gasket set : $150.00 (I actually thought that was'nt too bad) Replacement back trim for drivers and passengers seats; $650.00 each New windscreen: $1850.00 Factory wheels: $1250.00 each (hence why I'm looking for some RX8 rims) headlights (glass): $900.00 each Radiator: $1500.00 All prices plus tax. This is why my old girl is a garage queen; too scared that if she gets damaged the insurers will try to write her off due to the cost of reparing.
