Thumbs up SOIC 'Greensprings 2009 Drive'

SOIC 'Greensprings 2009 Drive'
~ Sunday August 30th ~

The Post & Reviews Are In On The 1st 'SOIC Greensprings Drive':

“This meet today was one of the best drives I have been on in 20+ years of organizing group drives for Porsches, BMWs, Saabs and now Subarus! It was simply epic...” (NW OBS @ RS25) Medford, OR

“The drive was quite simply A M A Z I N G. If any of you guys were on the fence about traveling for this one and didn't, you missed out.” (TVA @ RS25) Medford, OR

“I'm still thinking about that drive. Hands down best drive of my life.” (El Capitan @ IWSTI) Portland, OR

“The meet was beyond amazing!” (inky07 @ Club WRX) Grants Pass, OR

“Coming down from Portland i wasnt really sure what to expect, but I am speachless trying to describe how this drive was. That road was by far the funnest and most insane road I have ever driven!” (D-Rhett @ IWSTI) Portland, OR

“Can’t stop thinking about what an awesome drive that was. Not only were the roads and scenery spectacular, everyone at the meet was super friendly. If you were not able to attend this last meet, than you should plan on coming in October…” (jung187 @ IWSTI) Eugene, OR

Where are we going to have lunch?

Lunch @ The Lake Of The Woods!

For those of you who have never seen 'Lake Of The Woods', I shot some pics as I passed it to do a little fly fishing today. As you can see, you can sit inside or on the porch, or even inside @ the tables.

The Marina Inn is an 'order up' and 'come get it' grill, so you can eat at any of these spots. The REAL trick will be finding a parking space for all!

Where are we going to stay?

For those of you who may be facing a long drive (NorCal & Portland) we will have rooms (and floor space available) for all who show up. I was able to have everyone stay with me @ 'Casa Miguel's' last run (and far too much beer was consumed on Saturday night on my deck!).

I can accommodate 2 couples and two singles or 4 singles... 1st to sign in get the best rooms! If I fill up, we have other members who can lend a place to crash!

Unfortunately I think that is the same weekend as West Coast Subaru Show 11.

Yup it is. But completely different type of events, on opposite corners of Oregon... I am sure we will loose a few cars, but most come from Central and Southern Oregon.

Therein lies the problem, these events are in Southern Oregon, but we have no active SVX owners south of Portland or north of San Francisco.

For 80% of us, even the WCSS this year is almost too far south.

But definitely worth a drive, as it sounds like all of your events are as well.

Just realize that you are a whole state's length away from any active SVX member - you aren't being snubbed, it's just a matter of distance and timing.

BTW - I forget if your events are always on Sunday or not, but for me personally and maybe some others, Saturday would work out a bit better for the main event. Work a half day Friday and then drive down. Or leave Friday evening and make it half way down, to continue early Saturday morning. Drive the event Saturday, consume beer Saturday night. Get up Sunday morning with a whole day to make the drive home and be ready for work Monday morning.

That is hard to believe there is such a hole in membership... Wonder why?

I am afraid it's for selfish reasons. I sell for Mercedes-Benz and there is NO way I can get a Saturday off. I have to beg for a Sunday a month as it is!
