Long time coming - tomorrow finally I get/see my 97 SVX

Hello All,

Its been months since I have made the deal on my 97 Ebony SVX. I have yet to see the car in person and receive it. Well I am happy to say that the transport picked it up today. And, tomorrow afternoon I will see it for the first time. I am even more happy to say the transport gut called me just after he picked it up because he had to tell me how amazing the car looked. In his words, "I cannot believe this is a 97. The paint/body is so perfect and the interior is new all over." He said it is beautiful.

For those who don't recall and to save the post search here are some quick details on my SVX.

97 Ebony SVX LSi
44000 Original owner miles.
Original bill of sale comes with the car.
Always dealer maintained & babied its whole life with full records from new.
Comes with a spare set of new still in the package beige OEM mats.
This got new battery, full breaks from rotors to pads and all fluids.
There are no known faults or service requirements, mechanical or cosmetic.

Well, I just can't wait to go meet it at the boarder tomorrow. I will post an update soon. The sad part is I cannot take it home tomorrow. It will need to sit at the holding house fro 72 hours before I can pick it up.

Regards

Max

Thanks to all for the comments.

The funny/sad part is that I originally began my search for a Subaru and an SVX after my research for a DD on the net. I needed a car to use year round as my collection of cars could not be used in the winter I needed a DD. My current DD and thank god its gone being returned this July was 2004 Honda Civic (worst troublesome car I have ever owned - even went to arbitration court), the lease was up. All the cars I like are some 40K to 75K before taxes and I did not feel like getting into anther large debt or lease. The 2005 Volvo XC90 truck, wife and kid hauler, is enough already. I just thought I would seek out the best used example of what ever model I ended up liking.

So, thats when I came across this pristine 97 SVX. At the time most laughed at me when I said what I paid for it (saying I over paid). To me it just seemed to make sense paying more than what all there others where selling for (but none were 97's and none low miles). I missed the sale of a 96 Bordeaux with low miles (36000miles) in summer of 2007 that had sold for $10000USD due to my slow reaction and still having my Honda for another year. So I thought, "A car I love and would not mind being in, AWD, perfect shape and requiring no maintenance, and for the cost of less than a Honda Civic or Toyota Carolla or Yaris", what could be better for all weather and year round usage at that price. Since one sold last year for that price I thought it seemed fair just for the security aspect of having a "reliable" used car. I never new or thought......

Now I am torn. I will be retiring all my other cars over the next two weeks for the winter and use the SVX as intended for the time being. However, I have a feeling that I will be looking for another vehicle come Dec before the real winter hits. Maybe an outback of the previous gen or two gen's ago to save on purchase cost as I certainly cannot afford much more until I sell come cars. I just can't justify keeping all these cars and at least 4 in my collection will have to go. So far it looks like the Gremlin and RX7 will be first. The Triumph will never be let go. I am torn between the RX4, BMW M6 and now the SVX. I wish I had a huge garage and deeper pockets to keep them all.

Thanks

Max

Max, I have a nice DD for you. A 94 Legacy Turbo Wagon, lots of maintenance done and runs strong. A few rust areas on wheel wells, door, and hatch, but still looks great. White with black interior. 02 WRX 16" wheels on new Toyo Proxes 4 rubber. Photo attached. Give me $3500 and its yours.
