Or I could be wrong. I know you can't alter them after one is already in progress.

Re: Is this attached picture an Italian car ? Yes it is.

TomsSVX, I commented that the subaru folks, in 1989 when the svx was on the drawing board, very, very likely had no skills, heart, design where with all to do something like the svx design.

Whatcha think about that.

Look at the car before the svx that I cannot remember the name of. It looked sort of like the svx but it also looked extremly Japanese. There is no way the in house subaru designers, based on that previous car, would have come up with the SVX.

What was the name of that car.

Therefore, I consider it Italian design.

The XT??

Regardless of what they had before, has no bearing. If you look past the skin, the internals of the car are entirely FHI and totally of Subaru Design. Thats why I have said, the body of the car was influenced by "typical" Italian design, but the body doesn't make the car... Whats inside is what makes it... What covers it is what presents it

Re: Is this attached picture an Italian car ? Yes it is.

Think weve reached a stalemate ?

Neither opinion has a checkmate.

I have one prayer though. I pray that future opinions posted here that beleive there was a substantial Italian influence not be bashed.

Also, I pray that a members perspective be respected. Therefore, if someone wants to wear the sticker and look at the car from a design perspective than no bashing should occur.

I mean, everyone knows that the car was made by the Japanese and is a Subaru. The hidden or unknown story is that the Italians arguably played a huge rule in the car being as successful as it is.

After all, most people buy cars based on looks and emotions and not always because it has a great mechanical reputation.

Therefore, if the SVX had looked like an updated XT, there would likely be no SVX Network because no one here would like the looks of the car..

Re: Is this attached picture an Italian car ? Yes it is.

I for one will wear the sticker.

I look proudly at what the Italians (I'm not Italian) did for SVX and will not try to "sweep it under the rug" and thus try to change history.

You misunderstand.. I am not bashing you or your opinions... I have trouble understanding them.

I am more confused now than I was reading it initally... I just don't know what the directive of this thread is

The SVX does look like an updated XT6 (XT4 excluded). I've owned both at the same time and there are more similarities than I care to mention.

Your reasoning is flawed - based solely on opinion, nothing more. You say "there is no way" in-house Subaru designers could have come up with the SVX. How so? Based on the fact they are Japanese?
R&T wrote a fairly objective booklet on the origin and design of the SVX, perhaps you have heard of it? Have you read it? An Italian had influence on the design, yes. Does that make it an Italian design?
Here's another question: why is it so hard for some SVX enthusiasts to accept the Subaru roots of the car?

The SVX does share similarities with other Giuigaro designs aswell.

I do say the SVX is a japanese car though.....

The Italian suit quote is very fitting

Gets what?? Is there an ulterior motive here that we are not seeing?

Nobody gets his point of view, which is to allow people to say the SVX has certain Italian origins. He wants his POV to be validated by someone who will agree that the car is more exotic than say, a WRX or RX-7.

I prefer to just let the vehicle speak for itself, which it does quite elegantly when I go vroom vroom down the street.
