Turbo Brat

Has anybody noticed the turbo brat on ebay? Its really depressing to see it in such a bad state. It pisses me off. If I was loaded I'd love to restore it. Somebody said that there was 300-400 of them made in 84. How many where there? In 83 and 84?

Did they also have turbos in 79? How many made?

Don't think much can be done to save that one.

I would love to own a Brat. Spare under the hood FTW!!!

There was a gorgeous one for sale in Walden, NY recently. Before I got the chance to nearly buy it, it was being loaded on a truck for Louisiana.

If classic Subarus being run into the ground make you sad, don't look up the XT on eBay in Utica, NY! Oof.

He's got another one on Ebay also. Its not in much better shape.
The Eastern US is not kind to older Soobs
The first turbo Subaru was in 83. In 84 the dealer did a recall and they upgraded the turbo to watercooled. Pretty much the standard until 89. In 90/91? they came out with the turbo Lego, which I believe was a 2.2.
I dont know the import numbers tho, its hard to find/get the info.

Turbo brats were made up until 85 or 86 I think, can't remember exactly.. and the Loyale was available turbo in 90 only, in 91 they came out with the Legacy turbo, and dropped the Loyale turbo, as well as the 3 door. (The 3 door came in an "RS" configuration in 90, which was basically a non-turbo RX, had all the other trimmings though.

EA81 turbos are cool, BUUUT they all came from the factory as a 3 spd automatic

Yeah, I don't know why they did that, cuz in 85 they were available 5 speed (It's real easy to convert though, since the 3AT is not electronic)... I'm also pretty sure all the EA81 cars were 4WD but I could be mistaken. And that MIGHT have been a North America thing, they might have been available stick overseas but I am not sure on that at all.

I've never seen a 85/86 Turbo Brat here in the States?
Are you talking about International?
Actually, I've never heard of any EA81T made after 84?

Maybe I'm mistaken.. For some reason I thought they existed... I had a turbo brat digital dash in my 83 GL-10, and I think the auction I got it from said 85 but I'm not sure...

They might have produced the digidashes for a few more years, just not the EA81 turbo cars.
