The same reaction I had to the Kawasaki 'reverse' trike I saw on TV the other day. It was a Porsche front suspension and A Kawasaki bike from the seats back, with a fiberglass front end. He sat about 3 feet from the ground to the top of his head. I would get KILLED trying to pull out of the alley onto the road if the neighbor left his garbage can on the sidewalk!

It looked like it would be fun to play with, but NOT suitable for transportation!

It was a 'big kid's' Big Wheel, with the smoke coming from the back wheel.

These are like 4 wheeled motor bikes for power to weight ratio. They travel very hard indeed.

Because they are extremely light the limiting factor for their performance is grip. Because they are rear drive, much over 300 hp and the rears spin rather than grip. If you widen the rear tyre footprint it gets worse, because you have less pounds per square inch pushing down on the wider rubber. Obversely you reach a similar problem on the brakes, you need weight transfer to the fronts before you can brake hard.

The fastest of these machines is currently the Aerial Atom. Top of the range uses a Honda S2000 engine that is supercharged. No other road going car can live with this thing on the track, it reigns supreme.

... it is safer than a motorcycle, the hayabusa doesnt put out much torque and at 250hp is just right. it's power to weight ratio is better than the atom with the big 4. (the donkervoort version set the nurburgring track record with an audi 4 turbo.)

I've been driving my Pinto. It's TOO DADGUM SMALL. Even though I run my headlights like DRL's my gold Pinto is invisible. FYI My Pinto is a Dragon regular. It's small, light with just enough HP to keep me from getting dead! I require a car with more grip than I have guts!

Pinto Mods:
Engine: Stock, tweaked to perfection in regards to timing, and fuel.
Trans: C4 Auto, full manual valve body.
Suspension: Koni adjustable shocks, Racer Walsh springs, Fat Man Fabrication A arm kit, with poly bushings. 195/60R14 Falken Azensis(SP) "R" compound tires.

I built the suspension with a Turbo motor in mind. I ran one for a short time, until I realized that 20psi of boost is WAY too much on stock injectors! I've NEVER lost traction in this car, and I've had it on 2 wheels in a corner!

Gratuitous Pic Action:

Agreed Joe, But ---

I owned and raced a Lotus Seven and who wants grip? All the fun was when it was set up and going sideways.

Yeah but I'm sure you didn't mind the attention from men with handcuffs (and I don't mean the police)

Though they seriously are fun cars...I almost bought one
