Those are DAMN COOL!!! Looks like it shares the engine with the Trooper... so that engine is actually designed by Isuzu

Four Wheeler featured the VehiCROSS as the "First Runner Up" for Four Wheeler of the Year in 2000 behind the Tahoe Z71; when pitted against: Chevrolet Tahoe Z71, GMC Yukon, Nissan Xterra, Ford Excursion and Mitsubishi Montero Sport. The VehiCROSS scored highest of all 6 Mechanically, for Trail Performance and Highway Performance.

i always wanted a vehiCROSS. actually looked around for one a few months ago.

last i heard, isuzu was still selling rebadged chevy trailblazer / gmc envoy / oldsmobile bravada / buick rainer as the ascender. my buddy owns one...i call it the ass-ender.

One of the REALLY interesting things about these SUV's is that the stamping dies were ceramic. They were designed to stamp 5000-6000 parts, no more, no less.
I'm somewhat suprised Isuzu didn't keep going with these "boutique" cars. The dies were dirt cheap compared to steel. Maybe the cost of engineering a new streetable concept were prohibitive.

One of those showed up at WCSS3 back in 01, I remember a lot of us were impressed with how well it four wheeled, did pretty good in the rallyX the next day too.

When I said Isuzu was still selling trucks--I did not mean SUVs or Pickups (rebadged or otherwise)--I meant TRUCKS.

I randomly came up on this thread. I never reliesed these where so Rare.
Ived seen alot of them on the roads in the past. I noticed them coz they where so ugly lol

its just like having an Svx only with a 2ft lift kit
It gets a ton of attention, more so then the Svx even.
has 230 hp stock and can drive over anything I put
in front of it. And it happens to match the silver on my
svx Ive been driving my Svx actually about once a week
for the past yr and a half.

I've seen some before and thought they looked neat, I just thought I hadn't seen many because to my knowledge we haven't had an Isuzu dealer in our town for years. Had no idea they were in such rare numbers. I have a thing for unique cars (thats what brought me to the SVX lol), I'd love to have one

Interesting story:

I actually used to chase the prototype of this Isuzu around the streets of Carson City, NV back in 1997. Me and my pal would sporadically see a really peculiar looking SUV covered up with the same material used for car bras cruising the back streets near my house, and ONLY at night. It was completely strapped over with this cover but you could still see the general shape of it. We finally chased him down near my house and pulled up next to him, just to ask what it was. The guy held up his cell phone and yelled he was calling the cops We said we just wanted to know what he was driving, and he speeds off. About a year and a half later I see an advertisement of the VehiCROSS and BOOM that was it!!

I guess they have guys in backwoods cities test drive prototypes for a year or so, working out kinks and such??
