As for the christmas tree, that can easily be hung on Ron

I'll write a 5 page liability waiver that no lawyer could get past page 3 without giving up.

Seriously though, just a friendly stopwatch autocross wouldn't be so bad. It really depends on how large/nice the parking lot is.

And as far as where we stay. I guess morgantown seems to be the consensus. now delete the other post, call up the hotel and say, hey we did recieve this rate fromt this hotel, however we'd really like to stay here, however cost is an issue, I'm sure if you say this to the right person, another 5-10$ will come off and everyone will be happy.

I think this is a good idea, as I said, the rate isn't a huge issue for me, but a 17-21 difference will be for some people and I still feel the better the turn out the better the event. It is a fairly large difference, all things considered.

As for the lack of voting in the poll, I would bet that a number of people who would be interested in coming to Reading don't even know there was a poll to begin with, post some info in the general forum about it, as well as over at the Yehaw site.......

You could drive to that exit and double back, it would give you 20-30 min more drive time......

Waivers don't stop you from getting sued. I know I won't run without the backing of some insurance. It just isn't worth getting killed and not getting a couple million out of it for my family.

I'm out on any planning but am telling you you're pretty much wasting your time... Unless you buy a lot locally for use and are willing to get 50 or so people interested in it (which not many people are simply because if something would happen look how far from home most are).

i definitely agree with the idea of seeing if we can get morgantown to come down on the rates. i'm not afraid to tell anyone i'm a pretty broke dude who lives paycheck to paycheck and every dollar i can save the better.(especially with all the work my car is needing right now). as far as auto x and dragstrips go: anytime, anywhere, me and the svx will run it. if it breaks, well it was going to anyway so why not do it around a whole bunch of people that will know how to fix it.

I think it would be best to say that Auto-X is out of the question... Drag racing is out of the question also...at least established races...

It's worth a try, the worse they could say is no.

I contacted Morgantown HI this morning. I told them that Lancaster HI had given us a very favorable rate to get us back there. I said while most of us favored Morgantown, the difference in the prices was of considerable concern, and possibly enough to sway our decision.

She asked "if there was still time for them to compete?" I told her yes, but I had to have their best offer before the end of the week. I told her what Lancaster was offering (I didn't think this was privileged information, as anyone from either hotel could review what was posted in this thread.

Maybe Morgantown's operating costs are more than Lancaster; I dont know. It would be nice if they could give us last year's rate, or a little lower.

I will keep everyone informed...

I heard back from Morgantown HI earlier this morning. Tia said she thought her original quote was more than fair, considering their increased operating costs.

Later in the day she sent me the following email:

"Good afternoon John,

I spoke with our Rooms Division Manager and would be happy to extend last year's rate of $69.00, plus tax, to you and your group. Please let me know if this is something you are interested in and also if you would like me to send you a contract.

Tia"

So I guess the new Reading VII prices at Morgantown are:

Two queen beds or 1 king bed: $69.00/night plus 11% tax ($7.59) Total: $76.59/night

I was hoping for a little lower than that, but at least its something.

I'd say now that we have the rate's for both locations, put up another poll and go with what ever the majority wants. Just make sure to post a thread in the general section as well as at the yahoo site, so memebers who don't normaly check in here are aware of the poll. Either that or if a Mod has the ability to mass PM people, ask one to do so, so that we get the most people notified about the "vote"

How long will we have the next poll open for? The longer we wait, the greater the possibility that the large number of rooms we need will not be available.

When I posted the first poll about whhich location the members preferred for the next Reading meet, cost was not an issue, as I hadn't contacted either hotel. The preference was over 6-1 then. I don't think that is bound to change much.

I still vote for M'town
