I've got my fingers crossed!

Tomorrow morning we see if the new SVX runs. We've installed a used Canadian wiring harness in a US car (the old one was cut at the firewall), a used motor, an '03 WRX 5-speed. I used a Legacy drive shaft but I had it shortened about an inch.

If I can make a driver out of it (and I think I can) then I will have rescued one from the wreckers. I bought the car with no motor or working transmission.

Wish me luck. I'll let you know.

It does! Haven't test-driven it yet though. Front axles have to go in yet and the interior too. Then it goes for a test drive.

That's the most exciting part. I wish I could do it all over again for the first time.

I actually drive a little more slowly with the 5MT. With the 4EAT, the car felt like it was meant to cruise at 100 mph. Its not quite like that with the 5MT because of the slightly higher rpms. Now it feels happier at 85-90 mph (but still happily goes to 130+ if requested).

I have problems with controlling myself with the 6 speed. I tended to baby the 5 speed most of the time to try and keep it a little longer but the 6 speed sees some action jackson now.

She loves it.

It runs smooth and it shifts great. There’s no vibration anywhere. The motor has about 58,000 miles and the .03 WRX 5-Speed transmission has about 25,000 miles. It still needs some work but none of it is related to the swap. The guy who did the swap did a fantastic job.

But best of all, my wife loves it.

Merry Christmas all.

I know this is a relatively old post, but I just wanted to say, I used to live in the Soo, and had my SVX for my last 9 months there and only saw 2 others the whole time I lived there. One of which was the first one I'd ever seen, a Claret '93, back in summer of 1999 at Northside Toyota (some dumbass traded it on a Lexus SUV). The other was a green one, not sure what year, only saw it once.

Anyway, just wanted to ask where you found your car, and more importantly, where you had the swap done. Was in done locally? I asked around and most people I talked to didn't want to touch it. Mister Transmission (on Pim) said they'd do it, without asking any questions or hesitation, and that kind of made me nervous.

Anyway, I still haven't had the swap done, but if someone up there did it, maybe I can make the trek back this year to have it done...

Hello fellow Canadian SVXer. Just a quick note the Claret was probably a '92, as the 93 was an anniversary release (301 made) and all were Red.

I hope you get your 5mt in soon, and someday I might too.

Somewhere I read that some of the unsold 92s were sold as 93s, which I suspect was the case. In any case, hello!

Wow, that's a generous offer Tom. I might seriously consider it.
