Front struts

What's the difference between the front struts that sell on subaruparts.com for $182.14 with the number 29 next to them or the ones that sell for $99 with the 2x next to them? Which ones do you get for the 1992 LS-i AWD?

Thanks.

Richard

The $182 price is the complete strut. The $99 is the bare strut. To my knowledge, the complete strut is no longer available.

Richard,
Give SubaruPartsGirl a PM about front struts - she's been able to beat SubaruParts.com's prices and she's at Wilken's Subaru in Glen Burnie!!
Note: I think Subaru stopped selling the complete strut assembly when they heard how fantastic Mychailo's springs are ( ).
-Bill (now at T-3 days to getting his SVX back with all new struts and Mychailo-special springs!!)

I need the same thing. Front struts for '92 AWD. Can she be reached by just calling the dealer or is this a "special" deal?

Here you go!

Re: Rear struts, etc. for a 92 LSL

Directions to Wilkins Subaru:

95 N to Rt 100 E.
Take Exit for Rt 2/Ritchie Hwy N/Glen Burnie
Go down about 5-7 miles and we are on the right hand side.
It's a somewhat small cream colored building with a blue stripe around it and you can't miss the Subaru sign of course.

Note* The road right before us is Furnace Branch Rd, if you see the MVA you went to far.

If you have any trouble just give us a call.

Jackie

Hope this helps.

Smile

I ordered a rear bearing & seals from Jackie today. She was a buck or two more than Subaruparts.com, but only 5 bucks for shipping to Wilkins. She says the parts can be picked up in about 4-5 days.

Ron.

Hey, SVXRide

I have a clunking noise everytime I hit the slightest bump, crack, etc... in the road and I am almost 100% positive that the struts are shot. The stiffness is completely gone and the noise occurs on both sides so I think I am do for a set of struts. How are they sold? Can I purchase them from you as a complete set or assembly? How much will it cost? Does they need to be ordered?

Ron- Have you determined which bearing we are replacing yet?

Richard- The less expensive part number is definitely the one you need. Sorry, I forgot to mention Wilkins as a parts source. I've done business with Jackie before and had a good experience.

Call Jackie at Wilkins (I only buy parts from her ). She can probably have the parts shipped right to you (not certain here, as I work close enough to just drive over and pick up my parts). Your springs are probably fine unless you've been doing "Dukes of Hazard" stunts with your car. Sounds like you need new strut mounts and struts. Any competent shop should be able to replace them for you - figure on something on the order of $500 for labor for all four struts.

No, but I have an appointment with "Homer", my next door neighbor mechanic to put her on the lift this Friday, & hope we can tell which one. I looked at my Heritage bill from the last bearing replacement, & they had done the right side, but who knows? I'll call you when I know sumpin' .
Ron.
