So I got myself a RX7

1989 RX7 GXL 145,xxx

Today I went out and bought this from a local guy... it should be fun.

It's got a rebuilt and ported 13B rotary engine, and a great clutch.
cant wait to drive it

Re: So I got myself a RX7

I love those. My Dad had one and promised to sell it to me when he was done with it. Next thing I know he trades it in on a Mustang Cobra. I was not happy at all.

Re: So I got myself a RX7

I had a 87 and it was nice, but I could not find a mechanic that knew how to work on a rotary engine. Sold it once I got married.

Its got its quirks but its an adventure

Nah... the us didn't see many with that option. it does amaze me how much better quality car the svx is. But I do like the 5 speededness of the rx7, and it is a lot faster (and gets sideways easier)

Re: So I got myself a RX7

So what are the seatbelt-looking strap things in the back?

Nice find, btw. Good, solid RX7s are getting difficult to find it seems like.

I have yet to figure out what those straps are... I think they are to hold a flat tire in the back when your tire blows.

The exterior is rough, but there is NO rust anywhere and I mean ANYWHERE! It doesn't seam to have ever been driven in the rain. It's a really solid car.

Re: So I got myself a RX7

There were optional for the 2+2 baby seats. The 2+2 seat would cover the flip up storage area and its not very comfortable

Re: So I got myself a RX7

When I bought mine, it did not have rear seats. I was able to find the rear seats at a junk yard. As mentioned, uncomfortable but useful for emergency.
