Re: motor running rich/building up

thanks for the help b3lha, ill see what i can do with that info and hopefully i can figure out whats wrong with this motor.

here is a picture ive been looking for and finally found. its my completed modified sump. stock svx sump chopped 2" with a piece of 1/4" diamond plate steel on the bottom for extra reinforcement from penetration from road material or debris - due to the motor sitting so low in the volkswagen engine bay.

all done entire project took me maybe 2 hours.

here you can see the inside of the weld. the discoloration and small bead in the joint indicate full penetration and an overall good weld - though only based on a visual test. I did a final test of Dye-penetrant - a nasty little red dye that finds any hole - anywhere. we use it for quick weld tests for highschool FFA contests when trying to make a sealed weld.

Re: motor running rich/building up

Take 'em off and clean both up, they do get quite gunked up over time. Chances are they are both still good. Hopefully someone will chime in on the testing proceedure for the air bypass valve. I think it is ohm related but can't remember. Check your vac hoses too as they can come loose and are probably in need of replacement anyways.
