4wd not working?
I drove my svx home the first time yesterday in the middle of a big snowstorm. it handled the snow fine, but this morning when we had 8 inches I noticed it wasnt doing so well. the rear wheels arent powered at all. is there something I can check to see if something is bad? I havent ever owned one of these subarus so I have no idea what to look for. And I have checked to make sure it IS indeed 4wd model svx before I got worried something was broken, I just bought the car less than a week ago so I havent really had any wheels off or anything. I am a noob and realize it could have been something that stupid. and all 92-93 were 4wd? also I noticed there is an icon on the instrument cluster in the upper lh corner that has the little car what is that for?

Hi Steph,
I will be in Great Lakes from 12-24 to 12-28 and can run a Subaru Select Moniter on your SVX. Is there a red FWD light that comes on, on the dash when you turn the key to on?(it is not supposed too) Does it go out after the car starts? The little SVX icon is where the ATF temp warning light is, also where the FWD light is. Tom

Quote:
Remove the red AC fuse and install it in the FWD slot beside it. THEN see if the FWD light comes on. It should come on when the key is turned on.

Great, now put the fuse back.
OK, that only tells us that no one fubared the light, which would indicate a bigger problem. If you have a multi-meter you can test and adjust the TPS. To get to the TPS you must remove the throttle body cover that says H-6. Throttle Position Sensor mounted on the drivers side of the throttle body. Probing the white wire to ground with the ignition on it should read 0.45-0.55 volts. 0.48 is the preferred setting.
