Question Bad TPS = 2nd-3rd gear flare???

Flying thru threads cause I got a code 34, found mention of a bad TPS (having some spikes and bad spots) would cause the transmission to flare between 2nd and 3rd gear.
I have not ever got a Code 31 (throttle position sensor or circuit) but I have had 2-3 flare in my car since always, and I have had 3 different tranys. This would make sense, but wondering if:

1. TPS can be faulty and not post a code?
2. If anyone else has ever tested there TPS just for fun and found it acting up?
3. Replaced their TPS because of a 2-3rd gear flare?
4. Does anybody experience the 2-3rd gear flare?

The SVX still gets a 2-3 flair once in awhile at very light throttle, usually going down a hill, but nothing as often as when the TPS was bad.

So you're saying you get the 2-3 flare, on light throttle?
So do I.
And you're saying you had a bad TPS and it was much worse?

Yes it was pretty often. It was on level ground or even a slight up-hill and it was just about every time it shifted. I drive the same route to and from work. I usually get the flair in the same two places on the road. One on the way to and one on the home, so I became acustomed to when it would happen. When the TPS was bad it would flair at other points during the trip so I knew something was wrong. I went way over board just to make sure it was and ran a test on the old and TPS. The results are in my locker.

Yes, I have the link above somehow tied to your locker, the write up you did was excellent.

On the same note, my mechanic just ADJUSTED my TPS and now the 2-3 flare is COMPLETELY gone, but I've only driven 15 miles so far. Will report back in a bit just to confirm.

Mine used to flare under light throttle, it was obnoxious, and bad for the tranny. New TPS on ebay for $50, and bam, problem solved. Haven't had one flare since.

So another 15 miles or so, and trany shifts great, all because of a little TPS adjustment.
Here's the catch:
Now the idle is kinda high, about 750-800 in gear, and just over 1k in P or N.
Will this get compensated by the ECU for me, or do I need another tweat of the TPS, or do I have something else to concider?

ECU will relearn the new TPS position and the idle will return to normal. It takes it about a week of normal driving (10 engine restarts or so)

TCU does not have learning functions, so the flare will not return.

The downside is that you will get the higher idle and will have to wait for ECU to relearn after each ECU reset (removing battery for more than 5-10 minutes)...

Thanks for the info, I learned today that the Idle will return to normal on its own, only took 3 starts.
I guess that a good way to know if the battery was pulled? or I suppose the clock and radio settings would give it away aswell.
I'm very happy.
Now all I need is an AC R12 to R134 conversion and new tires, then I'll be ready for something else to happen.

Yes it WAS a shifting issue, but it occured in all of the 3 trany's I've had, so I was starting to think it might not be the trany at all.
And happened across a TPS Cleaning How To, and saw the discussion about replacing the TPS because of the 2-3 flare (see Above)

SO all I did was have the TPS Checked, mechanic actually adjusted it, and now, no more 2-3rd gear flare at all, the whole trany seems completely different, no float, it shifts when its supposed to, and downshifts, it feels firmer(a little), It feels normal, the idle still drops down when you coast, and the TC still locks, but it just feels way better.
