Noisy Windshield Wipers

Bought my Teal '92 new and have always felt that the wipers were too noisy for a car of this class. Have other owners experienced this or is it only mine? Any suggestions for making them quieter would be appreciated.

Welcome to the site! Sorry no one has replied to this thread until now. What do you find noisy...the motor? the spray pump? do the wipers squeak or chatter?

Noisy Windshield Wipers

It's the wiper blades. They seem to slap at both ends of the stroke. I was wondering if there was some way to adjust the width of the arc.

This is common problem with later model subarus. The bearings inside the wiper motor have likely worn. Replace the wiper motor.

I find that my wipers when on their highest setting actually go past the edge of the window

I've noticed this problem too. I don't think it's related to the motor or the linkages. It seems to be the blades themselves that make the noise when they flip at each end of their travel.

I don't have a solution, but I've been meaning to look into it and see if there is a way to modify the blades and make them quieter.
