Center Console

The center console from the emergency brake back wobbles like crazy. I don't have a clue as to where the screws are that hold this to some invisible bracket underneath. Does anyone know how I might tighten this piece?

Hi Michael, Open the lid, then lift out the cover over the bottom, and you will see screw heads. Tighten away. You also might see some under the rear ashtray after you remove same. BOBB

More than likely, the plastic is broken, around the screws, from someone "pushing off" of the console when exiting the back seat (common problem). Find some small washers and glue them into to position to reinforce the holes, prior to tightening your screws.

Just a thought.

No, just the felt liner on the bottom of the console chamber and the rear ashtray. You should be able simply to place your washers from there. Obviously, if you want to go to the trouble of "double" reinforcement (washers top and bottom) you'd have to remove it, but, depending on the level of "breakage," you should be able to make do with one washer on the top.

Mine was really bad as well. I cut an appropriate size piece of tile and drilled 3 holes in it to match the 3 screws in the console. Now it's REALLY solid!!

The tile covers the entire bottom inside the center console. I am still waiting for the genuine SVX console mat I ordered to come in so I can cover the tile up.

how much was the SVX mat? you can buy a whole roll of grey or beige automotive carpet (trunk liner) for like $10. i did this for my armrest insides and the console. still have a sh*tload left over. maybe i'll make a disposable trunkliner.

I don't know, it never came in. (seems to happen with half the Subaru parts I order)
