too much tranny fluid?

Just got my transmission rebuilt and a new cooler, checked the fluid and it's very full, way past the line (but back to a healthy cherry-syrup color). I'm assuming this is not a good thing?

Will it be disastrous for me to drive it around overfull for a week until I go back to the shop for the new tranny check-up?

Significant Technical Input
I trust you had the engine idling in park when you checked the fluid level.

It probably won't hurt anything being overful. Usually the worst that could happen is the fluid gets hot, expands and escapes through the breather vent. As long as it doesn't dump all over the hot exhaust and catch fire you'll be o.k. (O.K., it is a possibility, and probably a long-shot, but if it did happen you wouldn't be the first)

Actually there is a warning for overfilling.

What happens is that the oil will produce foam and will not cool anymore as it supposed to. In other words you will overheat your tranny.
Besides this the foam is far from the hydraulic fluid so you may experience also some hesitations.

Of course if you were driving like 5 miles one way per day I wouldn't worry but if you were in heavy traffic I would drain some.

A short time after I bought my black car, I noticed a low pitched shudder around 30-35mph. I checked the fluid and it was 2 or 3 quarts too high so I drained it out. The shudder went away immediately.
