Bummer...
Guess there is no way I can replace the fluid with a good synthetic type

maybe not?
Quote:
1. Drain the conventional fluid as usual then refill with synthetic. 2. Disconnect the transmission cooler return line so it runs into a container. 3. Pull the parking brake and/or have someone with their foot on the brake pedal then start the car and put it D. 4. After draining 4-5 quarts or when color changes to the synthetic's shut off the car. 5. Reconnect lines and top off with the synthetic. Any reasons why doing the above wouldn't work on the svx? |

If you're looking to totally clear it all, wouldn't it also be a good idea to run it through all gears, spending maybe 30 seconds in each? This would clear the non-synthetic out of the valve body as well. Or am I suffering from shoe in mouth again from dealing with too many retarded customers today?

just to bump my question, gear oil for the front diff, what weight is it? I've heard several different suggestions, I was told by the tranny shop it was 90w, another person said 75w who has a legacy, which I know is different so Idk about that one.

I don't believe anyone hit on the actual capacity spec for the transmission, which is 10 qts./9.5 liters. For one more opinion on fluid type: I just run plain old Dexron as specified, and change it often. One of mine has an external cooler and filter, the other is bone stock. dcb |
