MAF Issues continue

Car keeps randomly poppin #23, I've cleaned the 2 OEM MAF's that I have for EG33's, I've read that EJ25D's work as well? I'll keep this short, I've dio'd everything the service manual says to do and everything checks out within spec.

Is there something that could break off inside the MAF housing? I really wanna get this fixed, so I can rule out the other issues the car is having (my random odd transmission shift issue but thats for another day)

And the factory SVX MAF has 5 pins but only 4 wires? Or did someone swap one out on me before I got the car?

Re: MAF Issues continue

Hiya,

Early JDM Impreza's suffer the same sort issue, it is usually in the wire it tends to go brittle and crack and if 2 or more wires do the same on a bend or kink it shorts intermittantly.

It is usually not that visable and some of the cable wrapping needs to be stripped away and then re wrapped after a repair with a good insulation type tape.

If you have 2 good known MAF's and are getting the same problem I would now be looking at wiring first off.

Just another side thought if you have one, JDM Legacy and Impreza's with after market cone type filters throw codes and MAF's go bad through vibration as they are never as solid as a stock airbox.

Re: MAF Issues continue

ty for posting the PDF. Makes it so much easier to understand when I can see pictures rather than just read text, or a horrible FSM image copied to dvd lol.

A MAF code when there is nothing wrong with the MAF is actually not too usual.
