Question TCU plug...Need Help!!

Ill try and make this as short as possible.

About 3 weeks ago I put the quick change into my svx, it was shifting erratically and I didnt really like it so I took it out....While taking it out I ended up ruining the plug by yanking out a couple of wires; So i went to my local junkyard and was able to cut out the plug from the svx there.

Now on the Biggest TCU plug (The main plug used in installing the quick change). I was able to wire it all back up originally for the most part, but there are two identical wires that are green with a red stripe. With the first combination the svx seems peppy and shifting nice, but when coming to a stop or turning kinda sharp there seems to be a jump in the tranny and it doesnt seem right.

When I switch the wire around to the other possible combination, the car seems to lose all of its pep but shifts smoother, but also slower, but i mean there is a noticeable difference. The wires are the same exact shade of green with the same shade red stripe, and the rest of the connecter i have wire nutted together, and it all looks good to go

Im just wishing that I wouldnt have messed with the quick change. But does anyone have any input or troubleshooting; FYI ive tried both combinations with the resistor plugged in and unplugged and there doesnt seem to be a difference.

Thanks All

Re: TCU plug...Need Help!!

Well I can tell you that one of the wires to the resistor next to the battery is Green with a Red stripe.
Might that be the same wire at the TCU end? That resistor does control how fast the tranny shifts.

Resistor bypassed = rougher shorter shifts
Resistor working = smooth slower shifts

What I don't understand is, when you have it wired for smooth slow shifts, and you disconnected the fuse in the hood next to the battery, it didn't go back to rough short shifts.
If its wired right, and you disconnect the resistor, it should be noticeable different.

So I guess I am no help.
Just consider this a free bump for one of the electrical engineer guys to chime in.

It also searches for a gear when slowing down when the resistor is unplugged.

Re: TCU plug...Need Help!!

I just dont understand why, when turning sharply, with the connection the way it is now, It feels much tighter and it gear shifts more and kind of thumps a lil; but when connected with the other way with the smoother shifts i do not have the problem with turning or slowing down. Will this do harm to my tranny if I dont switch it back. I will say that this is def not a comfortable part to get back at for the thousnadth time

Re: TCU plug...Need Help!!

So after some searching around; I rewired the TCU plug the correct way, then I decided to mess with my TPS. I took it and set it all the way toward the dashboard as far as it would go. Now it seems like the car drives perfect. It cured basically everything that was wrong.

Is it normal to have the sensor set that way? Does that mean the sensor is on its way out. Im gonna leave it the way it is for now, I just dont want it to hurt anything that way.

Should not you just adjust the TPS the proper way?
And adjust it to somewhere between 0.48, and 0.50 volts at the middle white wire?
