Transmission Brake Band Adjustment
I searched the forums, and all I got was a bunch of threads talking about it, but none actually on how to do it. As far as I can tell, it's somewhere by the starter. Can someone link me to the thread, and then possibly sticky it? Since, you know, our transmissions are garbage.

Actually our transmissions are not gabage, BUT just need attention, fresh fluids, lower temperatures, (and mabey some cool 4.44s)

Click the link and check the last page. My band is "wide" according to the description, so I'd have to tighten it to fix my problem. I'm going to go get the fluid changed and then do this myself when I have a morning off this week.
I do have questions for those that've done this; From what I understand, I have to first loosen the lock nut, then do the adjuster? And how do I know which way I'm suppossed to turn it. Also, how am I suppossed to measure the tq'ing specs? I know that sounds really noobish of me, but I've always just tightened to the point that it's tight, although I don't think I want to try such a procedure with the transmission. |
