Question weird turbo noise but no turbo!

hey i recently bought a 92 claret lsl. i dunno what the owner did to the car but for some reason i hear this weird turbine wind noise when i rev the car during idle, ill rev it up to like 3k and let it off and hear it. ill hear it on higher rpms but no lower than like 25hundred rpm, would that be a shift kit or something? i hear it right under me when i have the driver side door open... i also hear my car chirp sometimes when i let off the gas from slamming on it... do all svx's make this noise?

Re: weird turbo noise but no turbo!

no...

get the car up on a lift and check for leaks in the exhaust system.

Re: weird turbo noise but no turbo!

....Exhaust leak. Have a friend run he car in park and rev it to the rpms you hear the noise. Stick your head under the car and listen. I gaurentee its one or more pinhole leaks in the front pipes near where they meet the cat

Re: weird turbo noise but no turbo!

You might want to check the exhaust tips for one or two of these...

Most of us don't do a lot of "slamming" on it...

After replacing a transmission or two at $3,500.00 a whack, we basically just try to get where we need to go and then back home.

Re: weird turbo noise but no turbo!

thanks a lot, i appreaciate it, but do shift kits normally make a car chirp? i thought that was something in the octane levels..?
