AC doesn't come on

Warmer day yesterday, 65F (inside the car much warmer). Turned the climate control to "auto" and set temp at 65, nothing. Ran the temp up to 80, blower came on, plenty of hot air. Ran the temp back down to 65, nothing. Put it on "econ", blower came on (but of course with no AC compressor). Put it on auto, blower stayed on, but no AC. Shut everything off, and tried auto/65F again. Nothing (no fan, nothing).

Any ideas?

Did you make sure the refrigerant didn't leak out somehow?

Re: AC doesn't come on

I had same problem last year. There was no refrigerant in the system. They put in more with dye to find the leak. Never found a leak.. ac blows cold now. So may just need a recharge with dye to find the leak?

Re: AC doesn't come on

Could be a leak and no refrigerant, would that cause the blower (fan) not to come on? My other AC systems would at least blow hot air with the AC on and a bad compressor, or something...

Re: AC doesn't come on

when mine had no refrigerant, when I put it on all the way cold the fans did not kick on into full blast like it should. It is like it knows there is no refrigerant and doesn't work.

Here is my thread:

Other than that it seems to only be on low fan speed.
If I hit off, and then hit auto again, it goes back to low fan.
It doesn't seem to care that I want 65, its like 80 inside the car, it says ok, low fan is good..

When It was cold out, I set it to auto and warmer, like 70-75, then it was adjusting the fan speed on its own and turning off when temp reached like expected.
I had them refill it and everything works normal now. It auto controls on the cold side again
Just make sure they use the right refrigerant.

Re: AC doesn't come on

iirc if its R12 there is a lower pressure switch on the evaporator cansister. Unplug that and see if the pump clicks on. if it does, you have/had a leak on the system and its out of the cold juice
