Look forward to seeing them on your car.

I've seen people pay upwards of $1000 for a set of STI wheels on Ebay from either an '04 or '05...

There's Always Catch, Dammit...

in this case cost. Although $250 a wheel is reasonable for top quality, I'm too frugal to step up. But if I had the (discretionary) money I would go for it. I think Chike, Tom and I all agree that RX7 16x8's are a terrific performance bargain. Only 16 lbs! Not the optimal (for the street) 17" size (room for bigger brakes) and not the most stylish wheel (to my eye). But Chike and I know what we payed for ours and I don't think you can find lighter 8" wheels for the money, period. But if I should inherit some exrta green...oh yeah.

While we're pimping wheels:

You can occasionally find a set of my wheels on eBay for around $600-700. 17x8, very nice, clean look, and they're a rather unbelievable 7 lbs. each. Offset is way off, of course [38mm]. You can tuck some fat discs into 'em, too.

No official name, as they're the OEM for the Evo VIIs.

I think that's 7 kg/each = 15.4 lbs/each.

About what Chike said, but these have tires.
PZero M+S's with 90% tread left on them.
9k miles on the wheels.

I bought my RX-7 wheels w/ practically brand new Dunlop SP Sport 8000 tires for the price of one STI wheel on Ebay!

Talk about dirt cheap - and a great performance mod to boot!

Hmm...

Actually, I can't seem to find the spec anymore. The 7lbs. seems to be the decrease in weight offered by the spun-aluminum construction, but no one seems to say what that's decreased from...

Ah. The previous wheels were specced at 18lbs. That'd put these at 11.

Regardless, they're lighter than poop.

My friend has an Evo VIII. I seriously doubt those factory 17" Enkeis weigh 11lbs each. I'm a member at evolutionm.net. I'll do a search there or post a question if I can't find the answer. I personally think they weigh around 17lbs each as well.

Wink

ThetaReactor, add 10lbs to your estimate above. Seems like the stock 17" Enkei's on the Evo VIII weigh 21lbs:

Not sure if you have to be a member to view the thread, but one member wrote:

That leads me to believe that the Stock wheel weighs 21.1 lbs.

Motor Trend April or May...

no...the March issue p.94., has an article on the mighty Evo's. The top of the line Evo MR sports forged BBS wheels and they make a big deal out of the fact that they're 2.8 lbs lighter than the Enkei's. Don't remember what they said the Enkei's weighed and the mag's in the bedroom. If I get up to get it I'm going to bed...you'll have to wait 'till tommorrow or someone else looks it up. But the aforementioned poundages sound about right...the Enkeis are heavy.
WGJ
Ah hell, it's on p.96 but they don't give the weight of the Enkei's.

That figure for the Evo MR wheels seems about right. A friend of mine who owns an Evo VIII and lives in D.C., is looking to get a used set of the MR BBS wheels. He was telling me they weighed ~18lbs (which is super low for a 17x8" OE wheel)
