Rwd Svx

Has anyone ever tried making the svx rwd by torching or cutting the front drive system off and welding the tranny up so she only send power to the rear,man that would be really fast with a stick.That would make a good drag car,now all you need is sponsorship.

Not a good idea. The rear diff wasn't designed to handle that kind of power. You'll fry it with the first clutch drop or hard launch...

We are trying to salvage a parts car right now by doing this and making it a drifter.

We're using the rear end from a Supra.

One member made his svx rear wheel drive and added a turbo. He did it by welding something inside the tranny. I think it was KevinL but my memory is bad -this was probably 3 or 4 years ago.

Haven't heard from him in a while.

A search here or of the yahoo archive here would turn it up.

Not a good idea with the auto tranny, you will snap off the center clutch drum like nothing. The manual trannys can be modded to RWD and still be strong but the rear end will only hold out for so long. Well if you give it traction anyway.

I met Kevin a few years back. His car looked pretty nice in blue with the big yellow Subaru symbols on the sides.

Would anyone like to quickly explain to me why a RWD SVX would be quicker than an AWD SVX? Is it just less drivetrain powerloss?

All other things being equal - yes.

The awd SVX would win off the line, but the lower drivetrain loss in the rwd SVX would mean more power would get to the wheels allowing it to reel in the other SVX down the track.
