215/55 vs 225/50
Why did Subaru change the tire size on the SVX from a 225/50 to a 215/55 on the later models? Is there any reason a 225/50 can't be run on the later model SVX's?

Re: 215/55 vs 225/50
My thoughts were the higher profile tire gave a smoother ride. You can run either size without a problem. The overall diameter and circumference is very close.
I'm running 235/45/17 on my '97 and the 215/55/16 that came on it I have on my '92. Last edited by Blacky; 10-31-2016 at 02:51 PM. |

smoother ride, less wear and tear on the whimpy wheel bearings.

Re: 215/55 vs 225/50
I run both sizes. 225 for summer and 215 for winter. (Narrower is better in snow)
I always thought it came down to Subaru trying to save a few bucks on a money losing model as 25's are slightly cheaper than 225s.
