how to remove paint from taillights

i got a set of rear lights and the guy painted a red candycoat on them, how can i remove the pain without wrecking the plastic?

lots of very fine sand paper and clear coat ?

NO NO NO!
That stuff will craze the plastic and soften it as well.

I would try and use a medium-cut rubbing compound on a buffing wheel on low speed. Let the abrasive do the work. Don't use too high a speed or too much pressure as that will generate too much heat.

Once it is removed. go over it with a white polishing compound and a plastic polish system like Novus.

The tail lights are pretty easy to find an inexpensive. I'd think you would be better off getting another set and throwing the ruined ones away.

Just treat them like yellow headlights. If you've ever cleaned yours. If not, check the how-to's. Green, you must have mad cheese to throw out a good set of tail lights

Why not? There's tons around and it's not worth the effort IMO of trying to clean them up.
