differential question

I feel my svx is in need of another diff,I thinking about just buying a new gearset for 430.00 from subyparts and have a tranny shop do the work because its been exactly as year since this diff was installed.

Front diff or rear diff?
What ratio?
Why do you think that you need one?

Re: differential question

I have a fwd with a 3.70 gear ratio, what do you have available,I was told 4.44 wouldn't hold up or wasn't available when I was looking before.I won't be dragging the car anymore becuase I think the sticky dragstrips are my problem with failing diffs.

So I am assuming that the car is a 4EAT automatic.

1A) OK, FWD. I am sure that you can convert to a 4.44, or 4.11, and it should actually be easier on the car, the transmission, and the axles than the 3.70.
However harder on the tires.

2A) This is a VERY astute observation on your part.

By the end of next week I will have had a chance to think, do a little research, and be better equipped to give good advice.
And if I run out of Rum, maybe tomorrow!
More later.

Re: differential question

I would like a 4.44 if you could get one, also would this be just simply removing the old differential case or just the gearing and shaft. Also I have a manual shift knob on my shifter with a leather boot so any strange vibrations will be felt plus I think I heard a little chatter.I will be draining the differential fluid next week so if there should be some broken teeth in the bottom of the case.
