Oh, poo!!!!!!!

After putting nearly a grand worth of tyres on the car on Saturday, the top tank on my radiator split on Sunday.

There are 2 options, buying the only second hand radiator available in Auckland for $450 or get a custom alloy tank made and installed for $450.

I am going with the custom tank as there are no guarantees with the 2nd hand radiators condition.

I will post pics when it is done (Wednesday).

I am getting it done by these guys............................

You are being robbed. I had an alloy tank made and fitted for $180.00 3 yrs ago. Much better than the original and an absolutely perfect job. Real Deal Radiators in Henderson. Website ---

Re: Oh, poo!!!!!!!

It does seem expensive but that is for a 1 day drive in - drive out, new hoses, clips etc.

Also they are only 5 mins from where I work rather on the other side of town and the 1 day service is important as I use my car for work (I get paid to drive my SVX).

Re: Oh, poo!!!!!!!

Think yourselves lucky, guys. I spent over $1,000 on a new radiator last year. It's a massive alloy one with a custom polished chrome top tank though - looks good.

The prices you are being quoted seem cheap!

Get them to put a tranny cooler on while they are in there, messing about.

For my one I wont be worring about that. Since im going to go manual anyway.
We do get some one alloy ones here that have chinese made alloy cores.
Thats probley why some of them are quite cheap.

Re: Oh, poo!!!!!!!

Nice job Marcus. Worth the money I reckon, although it's hard to argue with the value that Trevor got!
