'97 tranny
what exactly did Subaru do for the later cars as far as transmission "adjustments"? did they enlarge the small, easily-clogged passages? i will still probably go with an external cooler and filter anyway to relieve my paranoia. kinda ridiculous that their supposed flagship GT has a faulty transmission, weak brakes, and wheel bearings that wear out if you do some spirited driving.

The Outback VDC is getting pretty far up there in price ($33k+) and is considered their flagship model at the moment. The WRX is the premium performance car obviously. (Talking about US only of course)
