Possible Purchase?

Hey guys, I'm from Vancouver and I'm looking to buy an SVX. I happened to run across this one on Seattle's Craiglist: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/1853601816.html

I was just wondering if this looks like a pretty good buy (I'm not extremely familiar with the SVX, so I decided to ask you guys). The price is a little steep for me (as I wasn't planning on buying one right now), but if it is a good buy and worth it, I would seriously consider it. Any input you guys might have would be wonderful.

Thanks!
Kelly

Re: Possible Purchase?

That is not a bad price for that SVX. It looks like the tranny has been rebuilt and should be fine. Look in the How-To Docs under SVX Information to see what to look for in a used SVX. Good luck.

Re: Possible Purchase?

Okay, sweet, I might be getting an SVX sooner than I thought

But one other thing, would someone from the Network be willing to check this SVX out for me if I were to arrange it? I wouldn't be able to get up there to test it out for a week or so at least. So if someone would be willing, I would greatly appreciate it

Although, I still have to contact the seller first I emailed him already, just waiting for a reply.

Thanks!

Other than that it looks fine though. If you get it paint the top black The red ones look sooooo good with black tops.

Just out of curiosity, How much would it run to paint the top black? Because I second that. I love most of the two tone SVX's. I think the white ones with the black top looks pretty slick too

I did see it though haha But exactly how expensive would replacing the windshield be if it wasn't repairable?

Re: Possible Purchase?

If you could find an OEM windshield, about $1,000. There are some Chineese windshields that are around $250 to $300.

If someone can't meet with you to look at this car, take the sheet that I mentioned before and it will pretty much tell you everything to look at.

If you can, get the last 6 numbers of the VIN. I would like to get it registered. Thanks

I don't have any idea how much painting the top black would cost to be honest. I need to have mine repainted as well, just haven't gotten around to shopping for it myself.

Used windshield is also a good idea. New OEM windshields are becoming quite scarce.

Re: Possible Purchase?

Alright, I'll look into it. But question for all you SVX pros

It says the 25th anniversary edition. Are there any differences between that and just the normal one? Just curious.

Re: Possible Purchase?

First, they only made 301 of them. They are all Barcelona Red, LS-L, and Spoiler. It should have a sticker on the right rear passenger window that says 25th Anniversary Edition. Many have been taken off, or have worn out over time. Other than that, they are the same. It was the first year Red was available.

Did you ever go look at this car? Did you get the VIN? If I have it on my owners list, I might be able to give you some information on it.
