Re: need front axle/cv assembly
Honestly, the guy at the store didn't mention anything about it beinf FWD or AWD, the axle fit fine though and I've had no issues since.

Re: need front axle/cv assembly
you wouldnt happen to have the part number by any chance would you? starting with NCV means new, and starting with CV means reman. could you possibly get me the part number you used? they tried to give me the fwd ones at my other store. i honestly think they should fit right in on the AWD ones.

2WD and AWD front axles are compatible
OK - so I bought the Advance Auto part (new GSP Chinese made axle)and will put it in tomorrow. What convinced me was I went to either NAPA or some other web site and it when looking to order, it showed the years and drive type associated with the same parts (all years, FWD orr AWD). So as far as I can tell, the FWD is the same part, albeit a slightly larger shaft to handle more torque. So I will know for sure tomorrow, but if it works I will probably also do the other side when I can to keep the same balance (theoretically the left side would be transmitting greater load to the diff via the fact it was spinning larger mass which is momentum (Mass time Velocity) related inertia.

Re: need front axle/cv assembly
Part went in yesterday - buy only charged me $50 to install. Anyway - it is the same as the AWD axle except for a slightly larger diameter shaft (for higher torque of 2WD to front wheels). So it fit and runs OK (although I'm still hearing a clacking so maybe I need to replace the right side as well).
