A different front end noise

Since all the talk about clunking noises from the front end at low speeds......

What about a grinding or scraping sound? I've noticed that while making low speed turns. It seems to be coming from the front. It is rhythmic, as if the something is making contact as the wheel(s) rotate(s). It sounds like two metallic object being rubbed against each other; definitely not a clanking sound, no particular vibration. Suggestions?

Have your brakes changes recently or tires rotated/changed?

Maybe not mounted back on properly, causing a little latteral travel, or the pads might not be on right.

Since it's not constant it could be a warped rotor.

hey coke.....

not a bad diagnosis at all. i am no expert but that is exactly where i would start. it is amazing how precise the mechanics of this car must be in order for it to operate properly. i think my brakes also have a little play. have someone check the shims. perhaps they are not properly placed and it is allowing some travel in your brakes. i sometimes get a pop from the left front and i think that is what it is from.

Thumbs up

Bill - Since you have the advantage of dealing with Duff Subaru, the results of any diagnosics & replacement of any parts will be MOST appreciated.
Ron.

I have that "pop" as well I swear its the shims, but I taken them off, put em back on, over and over, I just think Bendix brakes for the SVX aren't an actual factory match.
