just got my car back after four months of waiting for the timing belt and such to be replaced. now my breaks sound like crap. they don't sound like the normal worn pad sound, but more mettalic. i thought about getting new pads but wanted to ask some people with experience first. oh well thanks.

Its probably just rust particles. Keep driving it and it'll probably go away.

yea no puppies but maybe im going over them too fast to notice. anyhow the sound seems to fine untill i have been driving and breaking for a couple of minutes. could the heat factor into this sound at all.

In my experience, rust deposits wear off in pretty quick order.
Squealing brakes could be from lack of application of anti squeal on the back of the pads as well as poorly lubricated guides. Not to mention, just plain ol' crappy, cheap pads. If it's metal to metal, I'd have 'em checked. Pads are cheaper than rotors.

bad memories
i once saw someone run over a puppy, well it was a very small dog. it was yelping as we passed.
my rear brakes squeal on occasion. im not sure why but using different amountas of pressure on the pedal sometimes aleviates this. the rear pads are not worn out.

After 4 months of sitting the brakes will rust. I recommend light peddle pressure... Oh hey if you do a few stop from 30mph, say 10 stops, I think it will clear up. I think hard stops on rusty disks is not a great thing to do. The rust might get stuck in the pads.
