Re: Winter run anyone?

Hi Steve...

Yep; I'm keen. Suggest we meet @ the BP on top of the Bombays @10.30 with a view of heading out by 11.00am.

We'll take a leasurly cruise down to Raglan, have a spot of lunch and go from there.

I'll make sure I've got my camera gear on board as well so we can get some shots if the weather is decent.

Re: Winter run anyone?

I'm still in. Current intention is to meet you when you get close to Raglan, depending on the route taken. Same route as previously posted ?

I've coerced mine into coming along. They can talk handbags and shoes all day long now.

Re: Winter run anyone?

Hands up who washed their car today ?

Weather report from 'down south' :
rain for 10 mins
sun for 10 mins
rain for 10 mins
sun for 10 mins
I could go on for hours, but you get the idea.

If we're proceeding, can someone please confirm meeting point, route & lunch plans.
I've assumed we're buying lunch in Raglan, was there another plan ?

Re: Winter run anyone?

Hi Shane,

I'm still good for tomorrow; gave up trying to wash the car today during bright sunny spells with torrential downpours in between....

I had thought we could do the same route as posted earlier in the thread. But, I realise that means you miss out on most of the back roads.

How about we change plan slightly, Steve lets still meet as planned at the BP at the top of the Bombay hills from 10.30 with the idea of getting underway by 11.00. But we'll; head down the motorway to Rangiriri and take the Glen Murray Road?

Shane, do you think you could meet us at Rangiriri instead? I estimate we'd be there about 11.30? If we're early we could wait for you just over the bridge on Glen Murray Rd.

Thoughts anyone?

My lovely other half has decided to go horse riding instead tomorrow so looks like it'll be just me. That's OK though; at least I get to listen to my own music as I drive

Re: Winter run anyone?

From Rangiriri are you taking the back road through the back of Huntly, Ngaruawahia, Whatawhata or Huntly, Ngaruawahia, Waingaro or some third option ?
If you're coming through Whatawhata then turning west on SH23 to Raglan, then I'll meet you there. That way I get to take in the Raglan divi (twice) and skip the drive north to Bombay or Rangiriri (which I do twice a week anyway).

If you're coming through Waingaro then you'll hit SH23 much closer to Raglan, in which case I'll meet you at cnr Ohautira Rd & SH23.

I'll check back in here in the morning.

I've got Steve's cellphone number regardless.

Hi Shane.. the "alternative" route still hits SH23 at Ohautira Rd. I'm not overly familiar with the area but either route should have us at that intersection within an 1Hr and 15mins approximately. Based on that we'll meet you at the intersection around 12-12.15 ish. If we happen to get there before you we'll wait so we can head into Raglan as a group.

My mobile is 021-736877 in case you need to get hold of me.

Cheers

Great day out. Here's a couple of teaser photos. Photos taken on a proper camera (rather than my shoe phone) to follow courtesy of Ewie.

Re: Winter run anyone?

Had a great day.. t'was good to catch-up with you all.

I took a few photos and will get them processed and uploaded later today.

We should start thinking about another meet over summer, possibly early Jan before the madness of 2014 kicks off
