.. testing to see if I can make picture appear in the text box ..

I know I have read somewhere on this forum how to post photos into the text box of a thread. can someone help me find the link, or instruct me. I have photos in Picasa and upload them to Google+.

Ok, so to upload the pic in this link:

Here's what you'd do:

Click "link to this photo"
Check the box that says "image only (no link)"
Change the size to something reasonable like 800.
Copy the link in the circle on this page:


In this case, the URL is: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-v...0/IMG_0769.JPG

Then, when you post, click the "insert image" ( )button, and paste that link into the box. You will notice the [IMG] tags. Note the slash -"/" in the second one. You could also type those in manually, just like that.

(Note, the URL toward the end has "s800" or whatever size in it. You can change it to whatever you want. I usually use 1000-1200.)

Then click "preview post" instead of "submit reply", to make sure it turned out right.

If you want to be fancy, you can also center the image in the post, by adding [CENTER] tags, around the [IMG] tags.

Google plus acts differently from picasa, so try and use picasa. Google + acts more like facebook, where you have to be signed in, and have access to look at the pictures. (I can't see the pic you linked, for example.) But picasa was designed to be more of an online album like photobucket, so as long as the album and image is publicly viewable, you should have no problem linking to it. At any rate, the options are easier to find for it.

Edit: Err, actually I guess you mean the picasa desktop app, not the web one. https://picasaweb..com/ is where I upload them to. Also, "picasa web" used to be called " photos".

Edit 2: I hate how it turns the word Google into smileys if you don't capitalize it on this forum.

Alternatively, upload the image using the "manage attachments". See the URL it got and copy/paste into the field when using the "image" function.

Thanks for the encouragement, folks. I like it a lot. Have brought it along bit by bit over the past 15 years, it's now a very tight and smooth car with interior and rubber in great shape, no rust at all and a one-year-old decent but not perfect paint job, pretty low mileage.

My intent is to try to get another 20 years out of it, as I don't drive it all that much (approx. 3,000 miles per year). I think I'll need a new tranny sometime in the next year (??) and when I do I will carry out the 4.44 swap, which should give me another few years if I understand all the discussions about that swap that I have read.

What a wonderful car to drive and live with ..
